Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
So today, while trying to revisit New Fusion Buffet, a place I reviewed years ago and did an article on but hadn’t been back since, I discovered it’d been replaced by a new restaurant Kyojin. Lo and behold, I discovered an all you can eat sushi buffet!

I didn’t know such a glorious thing existed. There had to be well over thirty varieties of sushi, as well as more standard buffet-fare like cream cheese wontons, fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, etc. I got there right before the lunch crowd hit, but wow, that place certainly filled up quickly. It seems like one of those things that’s too could to be true, you know? So I’ll be disappointed but not altogether surprised if it gets closed down in the future.

Amanda’s getting off of work in less than an hour and I’m going to try to see if she’ll go out and do something summery like play putt-putt golf and get ice cream. I’ve got a little over a week left of my summer vacation. No complaints or regrets, though; it’s been a really good couple of months of fun, self-discovery, and growing.

Musically, what have you all been spinning lately? I know I’m late on the bandwagon, but I just recently got my hands on The Con by Tegan and Sara and immediately listened to it four times consecutively. The songs, fourteen total, are mostly short, but after a couple listens its hard not to have them all permanently engrained into your head. The song “Back In Your Head” is a personal favorite, especially after I found out Matt Sharp (of The Rentals, and formerly Weezer) contributed bass on that particular track. It’s extremely infectious (here’s an acoustic version of it from YouTube I’m enamored with). Other highlights off the record for me are “Nineteen”, “Dark Come Soon”, and “Relief Next to Me”. Also, Ace Enders, formerly lead singer of the now defunct The Early November, has a new musical project titled Ace Enders and a Million Different People and their debut album titled The Secret Wars is available online for free. One song off it particularly stood out to me, titled “Bring Back Love (Year 2020)”, it’s a hopeful plea that through acts of generosity and kindness we can change the world in the years to come. Maybe I’ll be completely wrong, but I kind of see this song, even in its infancy, as our generation’s “Give Peace a Chance” by John Lennon. Here’s a link to a short video about Ace, the song, and his current tour.

Well, I had pictures taken and material for a new article (about High School Musical candy balls, seriously) but I just can’t muster the motivation to get it all together. Please forgive me for my delinquency in my role as Webmaster. With classes resuming next week, it’s doubtful my productivity and output in Review the World-related ventures is going to increase exponentially any time soon. I hope you’ll be understanding, and if nothing else, perhaps I can continue writing more regularly here with my thoughts on pop culture, philosophical musings, etc. I hope all is well for everyone and I hope you can get out and away from work and other duties sometime this weekend or soon and take some time out for yourself or loved ones and enjoy it. Be well!

12140 Royal Point Dr
Cincinnati, OH 45249

was the address when it was still called New Fusion Buffet.. - it's easy to get to from West Chester.. - it's connected to Fields Ertel Rd. where all the shopping plazas are.. right outside Loveland..

i desperately need to go back.. - it was amazing.. - the types and varieties of sushi were staggering.. - i saw grown men getting plates stacked with pyramids of raw goodness..

on a side note, my favorite mexican restaurant Fiesta Brava, who i'd long thought disappeared after closing their Forest Park store must have relocated because they were right down the street from Kyojin..

i know, i'm a dork because i get excited about food.. - anyways.. a sushi road trip is in your future!

there's very little that excites me more than food.
so consider yourself in good company.

i'm getting ready to take Amanda to Kyojin for sushi.. - found a couple cool links about the place:

- Cin Weekly review..

- official site of Kyojin.. - they've got a picture gallery on there, but be forewarned, the file sizes must be really large as its made my web browser crash twice..

Oh, how I love Tegan and Sara. You must have good taste. When I say taste, I mean musically and food-wise. That sushi looks amazing. I bet it was, too.

Oh, and also Tegan and Sara related, if you like that acoustic version of "Back In Your Head", then I'd definately check out "Nineteen" from that same acoustic session. It gives me chills all over my body. Link here:

I think it's neat that Tegan and Sara are twins and are both gay (who says there's no genetic predisposition? jerks!). Also So Jealous is my favorite album of theirs; have you listened to it?

I hate sushi. I hope we can still be friends.

As for what I've been spinning: Nirvana's Unplugged In New York (just the covers) and "Weird Beard," by the Mad Caddies.

Ah, the Crimson Twins. You punch one, and the other feels it...

I dunno, man. I'd pay my twin five bucks to masturbate once in a while. Imagine how much they talk one another up for their respective girlfriends!

Haven't been listening to a lot of music in general, but I enjoy the Tegan and Sara CD very much. No need to apologize about a slow-down in RTW-related activities! Life comes first! So get out there and enjoy sushi and putt-putt and whatever. The rest of us are just glad RTW is back in any fashion!

A sushi buffet sounds so good to me, I wish there was one near me.

I've been listening to The Blood Brothers a lot lately, along with Tom Waits and An Albatross.

Happy to hear you had a good summer Brian.

i'm a big fan of The Blood Brothers, too..

have you listened to any of the members' new bands since they split up? Neon Blonde, Head Wound City, Jaguar Love, Past Lives, and Champagne Champagne all largely or exclusively feature Blood Brothers members..

Also, If you're looking for another good listen, May I suggest The Handsome Furs.
Judging by some of your musical tastes I think you'd enjoy them.
